Beyond Moisturising: Surprising ways to use macadamia oil for your skin

Gondwana Macadamia’s co-founder Mel has first-hand experience of the healing powers of macadamia oil. And we mean that literally! In her first busy days on the farm, she ‘degloved’ the skin from her hand, and used macadamia oil in her recovery from injury. You can read the whole story about how she first discovered the healing qualities of macadamia oil in our earlier blog here.

So while many people know pure macadamia oil makes an effective lightweight, hydrating moisturiser, Mel is keen to tell people about its other beauty benefits and why a bottle of macadamia oil - or the other oil-rich beauty products that Gondwana Macadamias lovingly craft–– are beauty essentials for every bathroom cabinet. Here are her top five ways to use this nourishing and protective ingredient.

"Macadamia oil is a wonder-ingredient when it comes to replenishing damaged skin.”

Macadamia oil for: Healing

“I have to put healing at number one. When I injured my hand, I only used macadamia oil in my recovery and now you can hardly see the scar. In fact, in one place, you can’t see that the tip of my finger came off! It works because of the unique profile of the macadamia oil. It’s the closest of all the botanical oils to the skin's natural sebum. Honestly, it’s a wonder-ingredient when it comes to replenishing damaged skin.”

Macadamia oil for: Carrier Oil

“Macadamia oil is incredibly powerful to use as part of a 2 step beauty routine. Combining with a botanical extract such as our Kakadu Plum or Davidson Plum Cellular Extract, the macadamia oil helps to deliver skin nutrition deep into the dermal layer to repair and hydrate from within. It plumps, restores, repairs and moisturises at the deepest level without feeling gluggy.”

"Simply massaging macadamia oil into your fingernails is like giving yourself an express manicure!"

Macadamia oil for: Nails

“Simply massaging macadamia oil into your fingernails is like giving yourself an express manicure! So I always recommend massaging any leftover face oil into your cuticles. It works wonders. Our Macadamia Gritty Handwash is also rich in macadamia oil, so it works away the dirt of farm work and restores the skin and nails on the hands at the same time."

Macadamia oil for: Hair

“Give yourself a warm macadamia oil scalp massage. It’s life changing and so nourishing for dry hair!”

Macadamia oil for: Makeup Remover

“It’s amazing how one bottle of macadamia oil can remove the need for so many of the other bottles we have in the bathroom. It makes a perfect makeup remover for stubborn products like mascara and bright lipstick. It dissolves the colour but nourishes the skin at the same time.”
